FAQ's

Q. Is the site secure?
A: Pod Umna Village is a fully secured and gated facility with CCTV cameras in operation plus it is a managed facility with a member of staff on call to assist 24 hours a day. Each Pod has a lockable front door. We also have secure off road car parking for our guests.
Q. What is in a Pod?
A: Each Pod comes complete with two wall lights, double socket, electric oil heaters and a mirror. Each Pod is fully insulated throughout with earthwool which keeps them nice and cosy and warm inside. Our mega pod or 'Honeymoon' as we prefer to call it is fully equipped with a double bed. All our other Pods come with extremely comfortable camping mattresses.
Q. Is bed linen supplied?
A: Yes, luxury bed linen (i.e. mattress, sheets, duvet and pillows) now comes as standard for all accommodation types.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A: All you need to bring with you is yourself, a sense of adventure, your sleeping bag, pillow, towels and shower supplies. We can provide you with delph and cutlery. Towels are available to rent at reception for anyone who forgets.
Q. How can I make a booking?
A: On our website, via e-mail (info@podumnavillage.ie) or via a direct telephone call (090 97 59499). You will receive a confirmation e-mail from us confirming and securing your booking once booking is complete
Q. What time is check - in/out?
A: Check in time is 2pm. We will do our utmost best to accommodate all guests upon arrival but cannot guarantee an earlier check in due to high occupancy.

Check out time is 12 noon. Due to high occupancy we must ensure all guests are checked out by midday in order to prepare for our arrivals at 2pm.
Q. Is it child friendly?
A: The village is well equipped for children as we cater for all ages. We have baby changing facilities in De Burgos Gate Lodge. We also have high chairs available in our dining room and travel cots for your little ones to sleep in (please indicate when booking if you require a cot and high chair). We can also arrange for an on site babysitting service if you wish.
Q. Where can we eat?
A: De Burgos Gate Lodge has a designated dining room and fully equipped self-catering kitchen on site where visitors can prepare their own food and enjoy it in our forty seater dining room. There are a number of top quality and reasonably priced restaurants and cafes all within an easy two minute walk from Pod Umna Village.
Q. What is there to do in Portumna?
A: Portumna has a fully equipped playground only a few steps away from the village. Within easy walking distance you can enjoy the beautiful 15,000 acre Forest park with its nature walks, bike trails and a native woodland full of various wildlife including red squirrels and fallow deer.

Pod Umna Village is centrally located with nearby  visits to the River Shannon and Lough Derg. The outdoor swimming area and Castle marina are only short walks away where you can feed the ducks and swans or take part in any number of exciting water activities such as Water Skiing, Kayaking, Sailing and many more. You can hire a fishing boat or cast a line from the Shannon banks,  perhaps you would prefer to take a leisurely cruise on a luxury pleasure cruiser. If you would prefer to keep you feet on solid ground the local area provides walkers with lovely hiking routes and hill walking opportunities.

Portumna is steeped in History and tours of Portumna Castle and Famine workhouse are available to the public.
Q. How far are we from Pod Umna Village?
A: Thankfully due to Portumna's central location you are never too far from anywhere!!

  • Cork City - 2hr 10 minutes away

Q. Smoking
A: We have a strong no smoking policy within the pods. If smoking occurs in the pods guests will be fined with a soilage and cleaning charge on top of their bill. Guests may smoke on their decking area and outside we will have installed cigarette butt bins.
Q. Do you provide for corporate meetings?
A: Yes. We are set up to cater for large and small groups. Our facilities include meeting/training rooms and these can be arranged for your business needs with WIFI, overhead projectors, drop down Screen, whiteboards, meeting tables, suitable for workshops and team building.
Q. Where can we rent bikes?
A:  Please let us know prior to arrival that you wish to hire bikes and we can have them available for you upon arrival.
Q. Is the Village Pet Friendly?
A: At the moment the village is not pet friendly, However we do plan to get a Pet Pod in the near future which will allow our guests to bring their furry friends on camp too. Alternatively, If you wish to bring your pet along please contact us and we will try and make arrangements depending on guests within the village during your stay. Pets are not allowed inside the Pods
Q. Do you have a babysitting service?
A: Yes. We provide a friendly babysitting service at your request. We recommend that you pre - book at time of booking in order to ensure availability. Mutual agreement between parents and sitter is to be decided for payment.
Q. Do you take a deposit?
A: Yes. We take a deposit of one nights stay. This deposit is non refundable if reservation is cancelled 3 days prior to arrival
Q. What is your breakages policy?
A: Careful inspection of each accommodation is carried out after each guest checks out. Guest will be charged for cost of damage,breakages, repairs and cleaning costs to any soiled areas. If it is within the cost of deposit, guest will not be refunded their deposit. If it is more than the deposit the guest is legally obliged to pay the excess cost.
Q. Do you have special offers?
A: We invite you to subscribe onto our website to become a bronze member of Pod Umna. This membership entitles you to loads of special offers and gives you the opportunity to book onto residential courses and pick up special offers before they are made public. Q. How far ahead can I book?
A: As far ahead as you wish. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Q. Is the rate per person or per pod?
A: Rates advertised are per pod. Please contact us for all group bookings
Q. How do I pay?
A: You pay for your accommodation when booking on our website or upon your arrival to Pod Umna. PayPal and all major credit cards accepted
Q. How is my booking confirmed?
A: You will receive a confirmation e-mail from us confirming and securing your booking.
Q. If I arrive prior to check -in may I leave my luggage with you?
A: Yes. We will safely secure your luggage with us at reception.
Q. Is there internet access on site?
A: Yes. We have a free wi-fi service available in reception and in our dining room. Please ask at reception desk for the access code.
Q. Do you have a safe for my personal belongings?
A: Yes. We have a safe at reception which will be sealed and signed in by you and placed and locked securily in the safe.
Q. Can I arrange for flowers/chocolates/special add ons to be placed in the pods?
A: Yes. Please contact us prior to arrival or during booking for this to be arranged.
Q. Can you cater for special dietary requirements?
A: Yes. We cater for all dietary needs. Please inform us at booking stage so we can cater for you.
Q. Is there a good choice of vegan, coeliac and vegetarian options?
A: Yes. Please send any preferrences to us prior to arrival so your needs can be catered for
Q. Is lunch available in the village?
A: Yes. Lunch must be pre-ordered at time of booking. 
Q. Is there a games room?
A: Yes. Our dining room can be used as a games room in the evening time for all ages.
Q. How often is housekeeping service provided?
A: All pods and rooms are serviced once a day by our accommodation team. This standard service is included within our rate, additional service is available upon request.
Q. How often is the bed linen changed?
A: All linen is changed after every two sleeps.
Q. What happens if I loose the key to my pod or room?
A: If you lose your key a charge to change the locks will be applied due to safety for our guests.
Q. If I wish to expand my stay can I do this?
A: Yes. Subject to availability. We will try to accommodate extension requests with less notice but if there is availability it will be limited.  
Q. How much notice do I need to provide if I wish to cancel?
A: We will require 3 days notice with a non-refundable deposit of any cancellation or shortening of stay. However, if you cancel within the 3 days prior to your stay you may be subject to an additional cancellation charge.
Q. What are your toilet & shower provisions?
A: Altough there are no toilets and showers within the Pods, they are within close proximity in De Burgos Gate Lodge. 

Toilets and Shower facilities are next door to our dormitory rooms.

We also have 3 indoor ensuite rooms with a toilet & shower
Q. Can we use hair dryers, straighteners, phone chargers, etc in the pods?
A: Yes. Each Pod is wired and fitted with a double socket for your use.
